Haul Your Gear Without the Hassle: Class III Strength and 2" Receiver

This Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver gives you a dependable way to tow or carry gear every day. It’s rated for 3,500 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 525 lbs maximum tongue weight, so it’s ready for small trailers, cargo carriers, or bike racks. The 2" x 2" receiver opening is the standard size for most hitches, meaning your existing accessories or new ones will fit right in without extra adapters.

Clean Look That Doesn’t Stick Out: Concealed Cross Tube Design

You get a sturdy hitch that doesn’t ruin the look of your vehicle. The concealed cross tube keeps everything tucked up under the bumper so only the receiver and safety chain loops show. That means better ground clearance and a cleaner, more OEM-style appearance once installed.

No Welding, No Drilling, No Problem: Bolt-On Installation

This hitch is built for an easy DIY install. It bolts straight to the frame with no drilling or welding needed, using the included mounting hardware. The fully welded steel construction ensures a solid fit and lasting strength once it’s on there.

Built to Last Through Weather and Use: Tough Powder Coat Finish

The gloss black powder coat finish sits over a protective base coat that fights rust and corrosion. Combined with precision, robotic welds and a sturdy square-tube design, this hitch stays solid through years of towing and hauling. Ball mount, pin, and clip are sold separately.

Video Transcript for Installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on your 2020 Buick Envision

Hey everybody. Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Buick Envision, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt trailer hitch receiver. So probably my favorite thing about this hitch is the way it looks. Appearance is important on a really nice car, so you don't want your hitch to take away from that. Well this one, the only thing you're going to be able to see is the receiver tube opening. You're not going to be able to see the rest of the hitch as it's kind of hidden behind the bumper.

And so it's just going to give us a clean factory look. So many of our Envision customers plan on using their hitch to carry around a bike rack. And if that's your plan, this one's going to work great for you, partly because it has that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening. So it's going to give you a lot of different options on what type of rack or accessory you can carry. But something I do want to point out, the hitch does sit back a little bit and that's partly to make the appearance look better, but with it sitting back a little bit, something you need to pay attention to is your clearance, so from your hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper. And what you're looking for is the distance there.

You want to make sure any folding accessories can clear, so that's just something to keep in mind, if you plan on using those folding style accessories. So this is a class three hitch. We're going to have a nice-looking reinforced collar. That's also going to add some strength. And it's going to have the standard five eighth size pin hole. Now a pin and clip does not come included, but if you need one, you can find it here at etrailer.

I have loop style safety chain openings, which are quite large and in the open. So if you do plan on doing some towing, you should not have any issues using just about any size, so.Now as far as the hitch's weight capacities go, it's going to have a 525 pound maximum gross tongue weight rating. So that's going to be the amount of weight that's pushing down on the hitch. That's a pretty high number and that'll work good for just about any accessory, bike rack or cargo carrier that you'd want to use. As far as the maximum gross trailer weight rating goes, it's going to be 3,500 pounds.

So that's going to be the amount of weight pulling on the edge. So that's the weight of your trailer, plus anything that you might have on it. And I do always like to recommend, it's never a bad idea to check with your Buick's owner's manual to make sure your Envision can pull that much weight. Now I'm going to give you a couple of measurements, and you're going to use these to help figure out which hitch-mounted accessories to get. From the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening, it's going to be about 13 inches. So chances are pretty good. You're going to need to get a ball mount with a rise. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of our rear bumper. It's going to be about six and a half inches, and you're going to use that measurement to figure out that if any folding accessories you might have can be stored in the upright position, without contacting the bumper. So overall, a versatile hitch that looks really good too. And believe it or not, even though most of our hitch is completely hidden, the installation really isn't that bad and shouldn't take you a whole lot of time. Speaking of which, let's go ahead and put it on together now. To begin our install, we're going to be working underneath the back of our Envision, and what we're going to have to do is take out a couple of the screws. That way the bottom of our bumper will have a little movement and give us some room to work. So we're going to have a screw here, and we're going to pull that out with a T15. If you follow that down, you're going to have one more on this side too. We'll do the same thing. Over here on the passenger side, if you look just behind your bumper, where this flange is, we're going to have a 15 millimeter nut that we'll go ahead and remove. And once we have this removed, anything we do to this side of the vehicle, we're also going to do to the other side because they're going to be set up the exact same way.So what now we can do is move to our frame rail and fish wire our hardware into place. So to do that, we're going to take the coiled end of one of our pull wires, and put it through this hole here closest to the back of our car. We're going to drop it out of that larger hole. Sometimes it's easier if you put a nice bend in the wire like that. Once we have that pulled out, you're going to take a spacer block, put it over the fish wire and the carriage bolt. That's actually going to thread on the fish wire. And we can push our hardware up into the frame rail, work it around, and get it to drop down like that. Now with an extra set of hands, we can raise our hitch into position. So you're going to want to take the pull wire, and put it through this hole here in the back of the hitch. You can raise it up. And what we're going to have to do, is push our hitch up. We're going to have to go over these bumper supports here, work them out, kind of while pushing our bumper back at the same time. So once you have the hitch over that stud that we removed the nut from, and our hardware dropped through, you can take off your pull wire. And what you're going to do is take a flange nut right here, and get this started hand tight. And for this bolt there, we're going to grab the factory nut that we removed, and get that started as well. With all of our hardware and place in hand tight, now we can snug it on up.Now we'll go ahead, grab our torque wrench, tighten everything down to the amount specified in the instructions. And don't forget to reinstall your Torx bit screws, here on the bottom of our bumper. And that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the Curt trailer hitch receiver on our 2020 Buick Envision.

I was very happy with how quick the hitch and wiring were shipped and received. Due to a few rainy days, I wont be able to install the hitch until it dries but since ive purchased several hitches from etrailer and all have been very precise, I have no doubts this one will install just as easy as the others did. etrailer has been my go supplier for many years. If you have not looked at the many you tube videos they have on the web site then you are really missing out. Great vendor!!

by:

This product is no different than any other Curt hitches in that it is made very well. Installation was very straightforward and easy. I definitely recommend this product. etrailer sent the hitch out very quickly and it arrived on time. Great company to deal with.

by:

ETrailer sent the hitch quickly and it was as-described. Honestly I didn't install the hitch myself. Pep Boys did it for $50. The mechanic said it was an easy installation.

by:

A lot easier install than I thought it would be. Followed directions, took about an hour. Final installation looks fine and pretty unobtrusive. Using the hitch for a bicycle rack for now but plan to add wiring for light trailer towing in the future.

by:

Good fit, best to have a helper or at least a jack stand to hold one end up while working with the other.

After a year, I’m still perfectly satisfied with the hitch. Works well for our bike rack.

This is not the first time I have purchased products from Etrailer. In both instances I was very pleased with the whole experience. The Etrailer web sight makes it easy to get correct part for my application. With the hitch purchase special tools were included to make the installation easier and faster. The etrailer web sight videos showing how to install the hitch were a great help. I also was very please with the speed at which I received the hitch.

Nice hitch! The Buick Envision Installation Video does not show how to slide the hitch inside the bumper on the driver's side. This side is more difficult because of foot kick tailgate release sensor. I was afraid I might break the mounting sensor bracket when forcing the hitch under the bumper. I removed the two top mounting bolts knowing they could be difficult to re-install once the hitch was in. I was glad I did. With the right length 1/4 tool extensions it wasn't to hard. Hitch looks great installed.

by:

Trailer hitch was well built. I would recommend measuring the width before working it up against the frame. Mine was 3/8 inch wider than the frame holes. Simple fix, I stuck it in the vise and tweaked it. Couple extra steps taking back out and in. Really nice hitch.

Pretty easy install, took me about an 1-1/2 hours to install by myself. Watched a couple of the videos on my make and model. Plus one on the wiring.
This is the third hitch I’ve installed from etrailer, they were all easy.

I sold the car two months after installing the hitch, so sorry no 1 year update.

by:

I reviewed this the other day, but wanted to add a couple of Pictures. Job was pretty straight forward. I did it by myself (68 year old) without a hitch... oh... I guess I did have a hitch... but installed it without any problems. I just put one side in first and the bracket holds it while you slip the other side in, move it into position and bolt it up. The little wire used to put the bolt in place works very good. Nice outfit! My only regret is that I didn't research the products well enough. same hitch made by Drawtight has a higher weight capacity than the Curt, but it is not by much. It also sticks out just a bit more. I am pleased!

I continue to be very happy with my hitch. Still looks great and does the job for which it is designed.

by:

This hitch was a little difficult for me to install, while working alone, being 75 years old at the time. But, I can assure you that with a hydraulic jack to lift my car and with jackstands for safety - I did it. It would be much easier with two people. The directions were perfect. The fit was exact. It looks like it came with the car.. The wiring directions and and installation were perfect. I am very, very pleased with this hitch.

Installed the hitch with no issues. You tube video help the installation greatly.

Fit perfectly on my Buick 2020 envision. Took about 30 minutes to install the hitch as someone who is generally handy and has a set of ramps and needed tools. Received the parts on schedule (3 days) with free shipping. Would absolutely buy again.

I installed my new receiver hitch on my new 2019 Buick Envision so we can attach our bick rack on it. The installation was very easy and no hidden surprises. It took about 1 hour the instructions were easy to read. We are very satisfied with this product.

by:

Took me longer to gather the tools than to install the hitch! The one thing I did was to remove the lift gate control from inside the bumper so as not to break the mounting. Once the hitch was in place I put the mount back inside the bumper. Works perfectly and is really a breeze to install. I really like the way it's all tucked up inside the bumper cover, it makes it look so much more factory!

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2”
(Item # C13405) was a perfect fit for my 2019 Buick Envision. As described by eTrailer, it was a simple drop-in installation with no modifications needed.

The instructions recommend two people for the installation, to help maneuver the receiver frame into place. This involves some flexing of the plastic bumper and sliding the receiver frame around some bumper brackets on both sides. However, I was able to do this myself, with the vehicle on the ground (no lifting needed). I used a small tool box to support one end of the hitch frame while I jockeyed the other end into position and onto the stud. With one side in position, I moved to the other side and was able to get the frame fully into place … and then bolted in. It would have been easier with two people, but it can be done by one person with some planning and patience.

The instructions were thorough and easy to follow, and the entire installation was completed in ~ 30 minutes.

The Envision is equipped with a hands-free power lift gate, which is activated by kicking your foot beneath the sensor at the rear of the vehicle (driver’s side). There were some questions about whether or not this sensor array and wiring would interfere with the installation of the trailer hitch receiver. In my case, the sensor array and wiring were out of the way and did not impact my installation … and the lift gate sensor works perfectly after the hitch receiver was installed.

I purchased and installed this hitch receiver primarily to mount a bike carrier. Since this hitch receiver is set back a little bit underneath the bumper, which is visually more appealing, there was a concern that the bike carrier (which swings in and out of place for access to the lift gate) would not have enough clearance from the vehicle and bumper. However, I confirmed that the location of the hitch pin hole (which is 6 1/2” set back from the bumper’s outer edge) would allow the bike carrier to be installed with more than enough clearance.

The attached photos provide some ideas about the spacing and overall appearance of the hitch receiver and bike carrier.

I am very pleased with this hitch receiver. It is well made, very sturdy, and easily installed. The ordering and delivery process was quick and efficient, and eTrailer provides a lot of useful information and videos to support the installation process. I would certainly recommend this product and supplier to my family and friends.

Install was simple and as described by instructions. Fit well and looks good

by:

Everything is fine except the relays - they click very loudly every time the turn signal or brakes are applied. I think I'll have to spend the money to get different relays now.

Thank you the timely shipping

  • Do Curt and Draw Tite Trailer Hitches for 2017 Buick Envision Fit with Dual Exhaust
We checked with Curt and Draw Tite and both hitches fit with single or dual exhaust so the part # C13405 or the Draw Tite # 76080 would fit and work great. I attached the install video links as well as attached a picture that shows what the hitch looks like installed which shows how the hitch fits relative to the exhaust. I'd go with the Draw Tite over the Curt as it has higher capacities and will be a bit less visible once installed.
